3D Scanning
The world as we know it today is evolving from 2D to 3D. Archaic forms of documentation such as blueprints and 2D schematic drawings are being replaced by 3D point cloud interactive visualizations.
Using a FARO Photon 120 3D scanner, we are able to measure 976,000 points per second, at a range of up to 120m (395ft), through 360 degrees (horizontal) and 320 degrees (vertical) and at an accuracy of +-2mm (at 25m), to provide you instantaneous, high resolution 3D imagery, with extreme clarity and full color.
Several industries have realized the immediate benefits in using 3D data for planning, visualizing and measuring. Building Information Modeling (BIM), for example, is relying on scanned data to be used throughout the entire building life cycle. By doing so, civil engineers, architects and construction contractors are all able to collaborate more efficiently and effectively in the design and building process as well as the maintenance of existing building infrastructure.
In the field of crime scene and forensic research, investigators are realizing that maintaining a permanent “snapshot” of a crime scene can be invaluable in court cases. By implementing 3D laser scanning technology evidence, which was missed at first glance, can later be reviewed by forensic experts.
Industries such as aerospace, automotive, foundry and ship building depend on laser scanning for accurate large scale inspection or reverse engineering. Scanned data provides manufacturers with accurate measurements of complex parts whereby traditional methods of data verification would be too cumbersome and unreliable.
